This one is worth owning....

The other night, Ximena headed out to Wal-Mart to get a few things we needed for the condo. Since I have been sick I haven't felt like doing much of anything. Luckily she had decided to bring home a couple of newer movies that we had both been eager to see.

We usually skip the theaters because by the time we pay for 4 tickets 2 drinks and 2 orders of popcorn we've put out over $50.

Our usual method is to wait until it's out on DVD and if we have an affinity for the cast or we know ahead of time that we will fall in love with it, we just buy it out right. If we aren't sure we visit our favorite "Red Box" and rent it for $1.08.

Then we set up camp and have our movie nights. (This worked even better when we were in California and still had our 42" HD Sony LCD Projection screen with the surround sound.)

Anyway, on this night, she picked up "Notorious" The Biggie Smalls movie, which was fairly well done. The character who played B.I.G. did a great job. This is one that we will eventually buy from the $5.50 bin @ Walmart or if it's on sale at Target but not a dire necessity.

The 2nd one that she rented was The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. This was one of those films that I had been dying to see, but just had not gotten around to. I could tell you that it was good, but that would in no way sum up what this movie really was. It was powerful, it was impactful, it was beautiful, and it was innocent.

It is a child's view on understanding and learning about differences between 2 classes of people. It was enjoying the blissful ignorance of children who found a beautiful friendship during a time of war, and the feeling of disgust for those who were capable of being a part of Hitler's Regime.

If you enjoy movies that take you for a ride, open your eyes and heart to The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. Absolutely fantastic!

This is my favorite movie of the year so far, even beating out Milk (which says ALOT) & with such an interesting ending, I dare Hollywood to top it!)

Skip the rental. Just buy this one! It is a must have for any collection!
